I qualified to teach the Alexander Technique in 2017 having completed my 3 year training at the Brighton Alexander Technique College graduating from CCARE in Totnes. Prior to this, I worked in the NHS for 35 years as an RGN and Health Visitor. I am a musician, playing piano, violin and singing.
I discovered the Alexander Technique while searching for a solution for shoulder problems and repetitive strain injury (RSI) that was causing chronic pain. The discomfort was making it increasingly difficult to do my work in the NHS. I had heard of AT and was curious to learn more about it. I started having lessons in my mid 40's - my first lesson was a light bulb moment and I have never looked back. I was immediately on the road to recovering from RSI and many other benefits were soon apparent . My confidence improved, I was coping better with stress at work, singing became more enjoyable and I started to play tennis again with insight into how to move freely.
I am passionate about health education helping people learn self-care skills and felt that Alexander Technique brought together all my interests providing a method for improving daily life on so many levels.
I teach 1 to 1 lessons in my studio, run 6 week courses and workshops on demand. I have undertaken further study with The Poise Project for people living with Parkinson's and studied with the Developing Self to teach in educational settings.
Special interests include working with singers, instrumentalists, older people
