I qualified as an Alexander Technique teacher in 2016 after training at the Brighton School. I originally came to the Technique as a cellist struggling with debilitating lower back pain, having heard it might help. It did — profoundly. The experience was transformative enough that I felt inspired to train as a teacher myself.
Along the way I discovered benefits I wish I’d known much earlier: a calmer inner life, a way of being that feels both softer and stronger, and a more resilient approach to challenge. It has reshaped my experience of performing music, bringing more joy and less fear.
In lessons, I work with students to find greater ease in everyday activity. You may be at the beginning of your journey to relieve pain, exploring how to sit more comfortably at a desk, or curious about something entirely different — the work often brings surprising insights.
As a cello teacher, I integrate Alexander principles to help students play with more comfort and freedom, reducing the risk of injury and supporting a more expressive, enjoyable performance experience.
