Monika Gross, BFA, M.STAT, M.AmSAT, M.ATI, MSME/T is an internationally certified Alexander technique (AT) specialist with 40 years of teaching experience. Since 2016, Monika has been Executive Director of The Poise Project, a nonprofit with the mission to help the public maintain poise, dignity, and personal growth throughout all stages and challenges of life by using Alexander technique principles. We deliver postgraduate training to prepare AT specialists to meet the demand for new jobs serving target populations; and continuing education courses to inform health, education, and other industry professionals about AT-based approaches. We initiate research projects to build on existing data concerning the efficacy of AT principle based approaches and to test new curriculum. We have arleady researched adaptive Alexander-based programs for people living with Parkinson’s disease and other chronic conditions and for family care partners. She is an active member of American Congress for Rehabilitation Medicine (ACRM); International Parkinson's Disease and Movement Disorder Specialists (MDS); Alzheimer's Association International Society to Advance Alzheimer's Research and Treatment (ISTAART); nternational Association for the Study of Pain (IASP), ; Integrative Medicine for the Underserved (IM4US); International Society of Posture and Gate Resesarch (ISPGR); Dramatists Guild of America (DGA), Actors Equity Association (AEA), and Stage Directors and Choreographers Society (SDCS).
