Kerin Black
In 2002 I completed my studies with Robin Simmons. Since then I have been teaching around the world, primarily in Germany, where I lived from 2004 until 2020.
In 2016 I founded and was Head of Training in Stuttgart at the South German Alexander Technique Centre (SATZ) until 2020. Prior to that I was the Assistant Director of Training at the ATLAZ in Zurich for five years.
After my first experiences with the AT at Interlochen Arts Camp, I continued to have lessons throughout my horn studies at the Royal Academy of Music.
In addition to training AT teachers for nearly 10 years, I have maintained a thriving private studio throughout and have also designed and delivered professional development workshops for AT teachers at international congresses and meetings.
In particular, my work with musicians of all levels inspires me, having the first-hand experience of just how life-changing it can be. My work as an AT teacher with musicians has included workshops for the Royal Academy of Music and the International Horn Symposium in London, Texas State University and Interlochen Arts Academy, amongst others. I also founded and ran an AT programme at Kingston Grammar School until 2003.
Another field of expertise is my work with horse riders. My workshops and lessons for riders, including preparation for teacher qualification exams, have been central to my work for many years. I offer workshops at riding centres and private lessons with or without a horse.
