Katherine Breen
Kitty Breen began Alexander studies in 1984 after surviving a car going off a cliff at age 19. Subsequent life threatening traumas provided forced observational periods and learning opportunities. She is grateful to and credits the Alexander Technique for giving her tools for recovery.
She received STAT and AmSAT certification from The Center for the Alexander Technique (Avak) in 1992 with post graduate fellowship study at the Constructive Teaching Centre (Carrington) in 1994. She holds a BA from Wesleyan University 1984 and an MBA from Yale University School of Management 1994.
She is Founder/Director of the Alexander Back and Chronic Pain Center in Cambridge, MA (2003) and works in collaboration with like-minded doctors and practitioners from Boston area hospitals, including Brigham and Women’s Hospital, Spaulding Rehabilitation Hospital, and the Harvard Medical School fellows.
Kitty presented workshops on teaching to back pain, brain trauma and the hyoid system at 2008, 2014, and 2018 international congresses (Lugano, Limerick and Chicago). She wrote the chapters ‘Teaching to Back Pain’ published in the 2009 Congress Papers; and two chapters in the 2015 Congress Papers: 'Teaching to Trauma', and 'The Hyoid MatrixSM.
