Yvonne Meissner
In 1996 I was lucky to receive my first Alexander technique lesson from Tom Koch (Amsterdam). That first astonishing lesson immediately made me want to become an Alexander teacher myself. It was a life changer, thanks to the till then un-known shift caused in my general body feel and awareness... and that in only 1 hour. A very busy intercontinental teaching schedule as a dancer kept me from admitting to the formation immediately.
Alexander technique combines perfectly with the non-invasive 2 other diplomas I hold. The first is in Somatic Experiencing (R), or better known as trauma healing originating in the work of Dr. Peter Levine. Life events and trauma are intertwined with safe "wrong habits" and lead to unnecessary "holding" in un-balance or pains that clients bring into your practise. Formerly your helpful defenses. The second is Focusing, granting the communication with what wants to be seen as "the problem", a safe space for the emotions that go along with.
Alexander technique will deliver a powerful tools for a lasting self-help. A teacher will facilitate this process.
Yvonne Meissner is a STAT member, she since 2007 holds the Somatic Experience (R) Trauma Practicioner Diploma and finished the 1-year basic formation in Focusing in 2008. 30 years of teaching dance and movement in 4 continents helps perceive my clients' movement habits quickly.
