Like many people, I came to the Alexander Technique after other therapies had failed to give more than temporary relief from chronic musculoskeletal pain.
Until my 30s, I had always enjoyed excellent health. I had a varied career in education, including 20 years as an academic. However, with the arrival of workplace computers and growing administrative and writing commitments, my work became increasingly deskbound. I lost flexibility in both movement and thinking and felt older than my years. My muscles weakened, my joints ached and my motivation, memory and mood suffered.
Lessons in the Alexander Technique quickly reduced the pain I was in and enabled me to regain much of the strength and ease of movement I had lost. I was delighted to find my thinking has also returned to being more flexibile, that I felt calmer and my mood lighter. This transformation let me to change career and train for 3 years at the Manchester Alexander Technique Training School.
The Alexander Technique has offered me greater serenity and a means of managing life's challenges without drugs or other remedies. Importantly it gave me back a sense of control and optimism. I now know that the Alexander Technique can benefit almost anyone. I aim to help you discover - or rediscover - something to improve the quality of your life.
