Mrs Katrin Maclean
I completed my three year teacher training in Berlin where I lived for 5 years and teach the Alexander Technique in Sherborne and Yeovil since returning to Dorset.
I became interested in the Technique initially as a means of helping prevent recurrent back and shoulder pain that came about through injury and misuse. As I took lessons and learned greater awareness of my habits - both physical and mental - I felt increasingly empowered by having discovered a tool that could help me anywhere, any time and any place. As my understanding continues to deepen I enjoy sharing with my pupils just how inseparable mind and body, thought and movement are; when we consciously harness this connection we can stop striving for an unattainable 'ideal' but instead allow the body to 'do the right thing' and give us greater freedom in what we can learn and accomplish.
I love walking, swimming and moving and have recently become an enthusiast of yoga, combining it with my knowledge of the Alexander Technique to become a helpful antidote to days when I am more sedentary. I practice mindful meditation which I find a wonderful complement to the Technique, itself a mindful practice. I am a passionate iPhone photographer.
I am married to writer Rory Maclean and we have one child.
