Mrs Janet Pinder-Emery
As a young violin teacher searching for ways to play with more ease, I had my first Alexander lessons in my mid-twenties and was fascinated to discover the beneficial effects they had not just on my playing, but on my whole being. Some of the benefits were similar to those I had previously experienced through meditation - but for me AT seemed to have a more obvious application to practical activities of all kinds.
I trained to teach the Technique in the 80's, qualified in 1986, and have remained an enthusiast every since. I am still exploring, and still find the Technique a wonderful support in my life.
As a musician I understand many of the challenges faced by performers, but I teach people of all ages and from all walks of life. People come for help with back problems, muscle or joint pain, anxiety and stress, but also to improve practical skills, posture, balance, and use of the voice. However it isn't necessary to come with a problem: I am always keen to pass on what Alexander can offer young people to help avoid problems developing in the first place.
I teach mostly individuals, and I currently offer online lessons too.
