Mrs Alison Marsden
I initially came to he Alexander Technique through curiosity as my brother, who had lessons to cure his knee injury, told me how wonderful it was. During the first few lessons what I found remarkable was the experience of having some quiet and still time with someone who bought increased awareness to my body which helped me release tension that I was previously unaware of. I moved house and discontinued lessons but the memory stayed with me. My stressful computer career led me to develop a back condition causing a lot of pain and time off work. I restarted lessons which eventually helped me recover from back pain.
I continued to have lessons throughout in my computer career to improve my effectiveness and help stress management. Eventually I decided to take a redundancy package and train as an Alexander Technique Teacher in 1998 in Cumbria. I have since been teaching people of all walks of life from primary school children to those in their 80s. Most of my clients are over 40 who struggle with back and joint pain or those who wish to prevent poor posture in their later years. I teach in groups, one to one and also on video link over the internet, providing bespoke recordings for people to use in their own practice.
I have also trained as a Yoga teacher (with Yoga Alliance Professionals) and in Eutokia (specialising in the needs of pregnant women). I also specialise in teaching to runners and improving your diet.
