First lessons and training
I started having Alexander lessons in 1978 to help with a general sense of tension and discomfort which was not helped by yoga or exercise. I soon realised that Alexander work had more to offer than loosening tension and when my circumstances allowed I trained as a teacher from 1981 to 1984. After qualifying I began to have lessons with many of the teachers trained by F M Alexander in the 1930's and '40's, keen to absorb as much knowledge as I could.
Teaching experience
From 1985 to 2005 I taught Alexander Technique at the Royal Academy of Music and have continued since then to have an interest in working with performing artists. Together with similarly experienced colleagues we have formed the Performing Self to offer advanced Alexander teaching to performers and professional development courses for Alexander teachers. From 2009 to 2016 I ran a Teacher Training Course in Central London and now run small post-graduate training classes for teachers.
Private Practice
My private practice is in Bramley, a village between Reading and Basingstoke. I occasionally teach in Covent Garden.
Overseas
I also teach in Portugal, Romania and Spain.
