Growing old

Many people begin learning the Alexander Technique later in life, and it’s never too late to start living more skilfully.  In fact, as you age, you may appreciate the benefits more.

Common problems associated with ageing are minimised when you apply the Technique. For example stiffness, pain, immobility, problems with balance and general health. The Technique gives you a choice to stay healthy, active and keep enjoying life.

Even progressive conditions like Parkinson’s Disease or osteo-arthritis can be better managed by applying Alexander skills.

Like any skill, the more you practice Alexander Technique, the better you get, and it will help you prevent health and functional problems as the years go by.

Alexander Technique lessons are a great insurance policy for a healthy, happy old age!

When I recommend AT to a friend I always say I prefer paying for a lesson than making a pension contribution. AT is an investment so that I will be able to enjoy my retirement to the full. If only the chancellor would give me the tax relief!

Part-time worker, 47

I started the Alexander Technique due to slight scoliosis and a stretched nerve in my left lower back and I thought it would improve my posture which could only help my injury! I've got far more out of the technique than just improved posture! The first thing that I've learned is how to work with my Alexander Technique teacher and my body to control the pain! When the horrible muscle spasms start, I can now use breathing to help instead of lying on the floor helpless.
