STAT work on student assessment is part of STAT’s strategy for upholding professional standards and has the specific aim to develop and apply a robust assessment process for STAT student teachers.
Intermediate objective: to learn from existing practices, particularly within the Alexander Technique teaching community.
Assessment for graduating students
A question - what ought to be expected of a beginning Alexander teacher, seems fundamental to another question that is a current 'hot topic' - whether or not Training Courses ought to be allowed to run over a 3 day option.
What are the skills and knowledge expected of STAT training course students at graduation? Are they consistent from course to course?
I think one supreme test is the ability to demonstrate with hands on and explanation with pupil/ fellow student 'chair work'.
And other Alexander 'procedures' - lowering the height etc.
