Padmini Menon
I’m Padmini Menon and I teach the Alexander Technique in Bangalore.
I started my career as a teacher of English at Rishi Valley in Madanapalle, and later at the Valley School in Bangalore.
In 2005 I joined the Brighton Alexander Technique to train as a teacher of the Alexander Technique.
I now teach the Technique in Bangalore, working with people from all walks of life, and all age groups.
I’ve conducted classes and workshops in the Alexander Technique in Mumbai, Delhi and Hyderabad.
I’ve also taught an Alexander Technique Introductory course to the second-year students at the National School of Drama, Delhi and to the students of Whistling Woods International, Mumbai.
In 2021, I co-facilitated a two-week module in the National Institute of Design, Ahmedabad, at their Furniture and Interior Design department on the subject of making furniture more posture inclusive.
In 2023, as a part of the Creative Expressions programme, I conducted Postural Skills – Strategies for Success, a module based on the Alexander Technique, for the first year students of Azim Premji University in Bangalore.
My work with actors, singers, instrumentalists and dancers is focused on helping them become aware of habitual muscular tensions which constrict their freedom and ease in performance. Learning to release these tensions not only has a profound effect on their performance, but also carries over into unexpected benefits in their personal lives.
