I grew up in Japan and trained as an actor in a unique natural environment - my theatre school was in the wild north island of Japan in log cabins. By day we worked in a local farm and by night we trained.
On graduating we made a touring theatre company specialising in plays about nature performing all over Japan & abroad.
I continued to work as an actress in Japan on stage, TV, film and radio for 11 years.
I came to UK with the support of the Japanese government to do workshops at RADA and studied at LAMDA.
I then spent another 11 years acting in English language but increasingly I became interested in the holistic relationship of mind and body.
I trained in various traditions of massage combining the best of oriental and European technique.
But during my acting training in the UK I had taken lessons in Alexander Technique and increasingly felt that this was where my future work could do most good.
I took a 3 year full time teacher training in Alexander Technique in UK.
I now teach Alexander Technique internationally in UK, Japan and China.
In Japan and China the focus of my work is very much with performers and I work with groups of actors, particularly where professional actors have not had the benefit of the Technique in their training.
In the UK however I have much wider practise working with people from all walks of life, most particularly those suffering from tension, stress, back pain headache and other common ailments which benefit from Alexander Technique.
