I am a musician (jazz bass & double bass) and teacher of the Alexander Technique in Athens, Greece. After my first years studying music in Athens, I moved to Berlin in 1990 to expand my knowledge of jazz music and improvisation and to train as a teacher for Alexander Technique. I graduated in April 2000 from the Alexander school of Daniel McGowan after completing the training course and gathering practical experience as teacher’s assistant for courses at the Hochschule der Künste (Berlin University of Arts).
Since returning to Athens in 2000, I work as a musician / teacher of music and as bass player in jazz ensembles. In parallel, I gathered experience in Alexander Technique teaching children in elementary and grammar schools (e.g. Ilion Music School) adult training in art & music colleges (Athens Conservatoire, Ωδείο Αθηνών) working with musicians and actors in addition to giving private lessons and seminars. While specializing in working with musicians and actors due to my background, I also gathered experience supporting children and adults with severe myoskeletal and kinetic problems including, for example, scoliosis and Parkinson’s disease.
To date I have accumulated approximately 30.000 working hours and have supported some of my students for more than 10 years. I am proud to see that several of them decided to go abroad to study Alexander Technique and have returned with their teacher’s certification, adding to our growing AT community in Greece.
