I had Alexander Technique lessons after a car accident in which I broke ribs, pelvis and vertebrae. I found that, as well as improving my bodily condition and vitality, AT impacted my life at all levels physical, mental, emotional, spiritual and overall - and challenging as it was, it was fun! I became a zealous convert and wanted to share what I had learned so I trained as an AT teacher. I am married and have seven grown-up children and an increasing number of grandchildren. My particular AT interests are many and varied: scientific research (I have a degree in Chemistry with Maths), inter-personal relationships, prayer/meditation/spirituality, Parkinson's, osteoporosis, the elderly, pregnancy, childbirth,(I had my own children using very effective breathing and muscle-release methods) and children - in fact all of how we can better live balanced, integrated lives with all of who we are and in all of the circumstances we find ourselves in and all the choices that we make.
The advice and coaching from my Alexander teacher during training for a London to Paris bike ride transformed my experience immeasurably and I am pleased to say that I was really able to enjoy the event without suffering as many of my co-participants did. I would urge anyone who is considering any physical challenge and is interested in, or, practising AT to seek some specific AT tips and advice.
