Janet is a certified experienced Alexander teacher, member of STAT, and also a performing artist , actress , musician, and dancer.
She had her first Alexander lessons with Vivien Mackie while studying the violin at the Royal Academy of Music and Drama in Glasgow, she then trained as an Alexander teacher in Tel-Aviv with Shaike Hermalin and Zeev Tadmore while continuing her studies in violin at the Tel Aviv Academy of Music. She trained as an actor at the Nissan Nattiv acting studio in Tel Aviv, and has worked in film and theatre internationally . In London she studied the technique further with Margaret Goldie who had worked closely with Alexander for many years, and with Walter Carrington at the Constructive teaching centre .
Janet has given private lessons and introductory workshops at the Bloomsbury Alexander Centre in London, the Mary Ward centre, London, as well as workshops for women in Aberdeen, for dancers in Buenos Aires, and Alexander technique and tango for actors and directors on the Greek island of Sykinos.
She has also trained in different forms of dance, including ballet and contemporary as well as the Argentine tango which she has recently been teaching in London. Interested in movement and expression and exploring how the way we use ourselves can affect our freedom, vitality, our presence as well as our mental and physical wellbeing.
