Janet is a certified experienced Alexander teacher, member of STAT.
She had her first Alexander lessons with Vivien Mackie while studying the violin at the Royal Academy of Music and Drama (Conservatoire of Scotland )in Glasgow, then trained as an Alexander teacher in Tel-Aviv with Shaike Hermalin and Zeev Tadmore graduating in 1985 while continuing her studies in violin at the Tel Aviv Academy of Music . She trained as an actor at the Nissan Nattiv acting studio in Tel Aviv. In London she continued studying the Alexander technique with renowned veteran teacher Margaret Goldie and with Walter Carrington at the Constructive teaching centre.
Janet has given private lessons and introductory workshops at the Bloomsbury Alexander Centre in London and at the Mary Ward centre in London, as well as workshops for women in Aberdeen, for dancers in Buenos Aires, and Alexander technique and tango for actors and directors on the Greek island of Sykinos.
She has also trained in different forms of dance, including ballet and contemporary as well as the Argentine tango which she has recently been teaching in London. Interested in movement and expression and exploring how the way we use ourselves affects our freedom, grace, vitality, presence and our mental and physical wellbeing.
