I started learning the Alexander Technique to help with chronic back pain resulting from spinal stenosis (narrowing of the spinal column) caused by a mountaineering accident in my early twenties, having exhausted all conventional NHS treatments. After a six months of lessons, my back pain was dramatically reduced and I decided to train as a teacher so I could help others. I still have the underlying condition but I cope with it so much better.
I have a BSc Hons in Liberal Studies in Science, an MSc and a Further and Adult Education Teaching Certificate. I have completed a three year, full-time training course as an Alexander Technique Teacher in Manchester. (www.alextechteaching.org.uk).
My hobbies include hill walking, gardening, watching wildlife, visiting tea shops and giving illustrated talks
