Carol has been an Alexander teacher for 22 years, in which time she has seen the difference the Technique has made to people's lives.
In made a difference to her own life after she woke one morning to find she had almost lost the use of her arms. This shock was followed by months of pain, anxiety and frustration in which no-one could diagnose what was wrong with her. Eventually, the Alexander Technique was mentioned and soon after finding a teacher, she was able to return to normal life. She began training to teach soon after.
Since then, Carol has seen hundreds of people across a range of ages, with a variety of difficulties and concerns, including back pain, headaches, stiffness, problems with posture, and general discomfort and stress: 'Life is very busy and pressured and people have high expectations of what they can take on. This is causing an increase in stress and tension and in people's ability to be well.'
Before becoming an Alexander teacher, Carol was a full-time writer and lecturer, with a number of books to her name. Her passion for teaching the Technique comes from her love of education and the understanding that this comes from a good relationship between student and teacher: something she brings to her Practice. Years of experience have shown her that the benefits of the Technique are far-reaching: 'It's such valuable work and I feel privileged to be involved.'
