I came to the Alexander Technique through recurring back and shoulder problems which had failed to respond, other than briefly, to treatments of various kinds. Working in an office, often at a computer, the pains increased. With the Technique, I discovered that it was how I was doing things that was leading to my problems. After having individual lessons for 18 months, I decided to leave my job and undertake the three-year full-time training at the London Centre for Alexander Technique and Training.
I have been working since 2005 in Stoke Newington in NE London. I also work two days a week at Uppingham School in Rutland teaching Alexander to 13-18 year olds.
In my private practice, I work with people of all ages - 86 is my oldest current pupil - and have experience with individuals living with dystonias as well as many other issues. And of course, many come simply for lessons to increase their well-being and comfort.
