Fuensanta Zambrana

Fuensanta Zambrana-Ruiz is a violinist,  Alexander Technique teacher and the founder of 'Playing Naturally'. Her experience and expertise has been driven by her passion for the violin and her interest in building a balanced relationship between the instrument and the player.

She discovered the Alexander Technique through her violin teacher at Trinity Laban, John Crawford. Since then, her approach to instrumental technique, practice and performance has continued to evolve. During her Masters studies at the Royal Academy of Music, Fuensanta researched the effects of performing and their consequences for musician’s health, which led her to train as an Alexander Technique teacher.

After completing her training at LCATT in London, Fuensanta specialised in music education, teaching young musicians at Oundle School and assisting at Royal College of Music’s, Alexander Technique department.

She collaborated with Aby Clancey on their project ‘What is Performing?’, and co-wrote the book ‘The Alexander Technique for Young Musicians’ with Judith Kleinman and Peter Buckoke.

Fuensanta currently teaches Alexander Technique at The Royal College of Music and The Yehudi Menuhin School, and violin at Junior Trinity, Trinity Laban. She runs workshops for music teachers and performing artists and performs regularly in the UK and abroad with Duo Folclore, a folk-orientated violin duo that builds bridges between different musical traditions.
