My first memories of the technique are with my mother, an AT teacher, during my childhood. This led me onto bodywork where I trained as a Massage Therapist, I then explored a little of other disciplines; Pulsing and Osteopathy. But I found that I wanted to step forward with my experiences into something that was practical, as a preventative rather than a treatment, whilst still observing the nature of the mind-body connection. When the Edinburgh Alexander Technique School opened I had just moved to the city and I was in a lot of stress; forming new roots around a stressful job. Embarking on the training, I found that it soothed my overwhelmed nervous system and my body coordination began to flow more easily; I felt stronger, more at ease and essentially more myself. AT has activated me and continues to bring focus to my life. Alongside the training I have since formed an additional profession in education, and a particular passion for the Montessori Method. I believe it is important to ensure the technique's continuing in schools and activities across all ages as a tool kit that young people can realise for themselves and take into adulthood.
I currently work 1:2:1 lessons, with group classes to commence.
I am excited to work collaboratively with other teachers and professions. With experience to offer educational/recreational settings for young people and their teachers/parents/carers. I can also offer experience of self-care to other professionals like Massage Therapists.
