With a nursing background, I recognized early, the importance of preventative measures and pro-activity to nurture and support our own skeletal and back health. Having changed jobs due to a pinched nerve in my my lower back, I used The Alexander Technique to avoid scheduled back surgery. This new ease that came with the skeletal alignment which strengthened my back, came with unexpected side benefits, a marked increase of energy, ease of movement, poise, greater ability to focus, even my voice changed.
Having trained and worked in Australia, worked with athletes in France, and am now based in Ireland. I’ve taught performing arts workshops in the National Theater in Melbourne, The Drama Lab, Bow Street and at The Lir.
With over 20 years of Alexander teaching experience, I work with a range of methods, from the original structural, strengthening work to the more well known freeing, stress reducing approach.
I comfortably mix these methods and find there are synergistic benefits in this broad adaptive approach.
Performing Arts Workshops: A playful, interactive way to learn the more dynamic structural work of Alexander.
Benefits include: enhanced physical presence with a responsive interactivity, ease of breath, vocal tone, resonance and projection, freedom of movement, energy and endurance, strength, along with precise characterization and assistance with de-rolling.
