Poppy Walshaw

Busy AT teaching practice since 2012, alongside performing as a baroque cellist. I teach individually in person, as well as in groups and for workshops, and also teach online. Trained in North London with Ilana Machover, followed by varied postgraduate work including two years with Bruce Fertman and several years with Ellie and Peter Ribeaux. Also a Feldenkrais Practitioner, trained with Elizabeth Beringer and Scott Clark ("London 4" training, 2020- early 2025).

Recent workshops as group leader: University of Cambridge music faculty, Girton College Cambridge, Gulbenkian Orchestra Lisbon, London peripatetic music service training days.  I specialise in working with musicians, whilst working with a wide range of clients. I love working with any specific activity, and with our awareness in performance or presentations, which was my own route into Alexander work over thirty years ago. 

I give one-to-one lessons, which involve hands-on contact and verbal guidance: exploring simple activities, lying-down work, and for performers looking at our use and reactions whilst playing, singing or speaking. I am also available to teach small group lessons or introductory classes for larger groups, both online and in person.
