Working with your body - 5 Alexander Technique and Yoga Classes

Ongoing session

A hands on yoga class with a big focus on finding the poses that work better for you, how to do them, what your habits are and how to take control over them.
We'll work on developing an individualised practice and understanding the uniqueness of your use of yourself in movement and at rest.

· Coordination and posture from an Alexander Technique perspective
· Modifying yoga poses
· Kinaesthesia
· Doing and non-doing
· Breathing
· Identifying and overcoming habits

The practice does not end on the yoga mat, but involves the development of our awareness to how we are living and moving in all aspects of our lives. Besides examining and refining yoga poses we will be looking at everyday activities as simple as walking, standing and sitting.

ABOUT THE TEACHER:
Rossella has been teaching Alexander Technique since 2010, when she graduated in Melbourne and her interest in yoga and Alexander is based on her experience working with David Moore. David is the author of "Yoga and the Alexander Technique: Intelligent Injury-Free Yoga" and "Smart Yoga: Apply the Alexander Technique to Enhance Your Practice, Prevent Injury, and Increase Body Awareness" which was published in 2018.
Rossella Buono relocated to Canterbury, UK in January 2013 from Melbourne where she had an established Alexander Technique practice. Working with a great range of people, Rossella has applied the Technique to improving the lives of people with issues such as back, neck or shoulder pain, fibromyalgia, Parkinson’s disease, sciatica, asthma, stuttering, anxiety and stress. She has also enjoyed attaining tangible posture and movement improvements for musicians, sportspeople, office workers, and the elderly.
Rossella was first introduced to the Technique as a means of her own rehabilitation, after breaking her knee in an accident – and found herself benefitting greatly from the approach. After eliminating residual pain and regaining sustainable, coordinated mechanical function, Rossella decided to train as an Alexander Technique teacher. Since then she has worked to offer others the same opportunity for the elimination of pain and improvement of overall quality of life.

Every year in summer Rossella runs a week long retreat in Assisi, Italy with David Moore, combining Alexander Technique, Yoga and Meditation with a fantastic historical location, great food and lovely walks.

This group session integrates principles of the Alexander Technique into a hands-on yoga class.

There is a focus on finding the poses that work better for you, how to do them, what your habits are and how to take control over them. We'll work on developing an individualised practice and understanding the uniqueness of your use of yourself in movement and at rest.

Rossella amazes me with how personalised her guidance is in her small group sessions, how much she covers in a short time and most of all how she manages to help people be present in their own bodies. Looking forward to the next session already!
