An introduction to the Alexander Technique, which can help change the habitual reactions that can cause unnecessary tension. Participating in demonstrations of the technique, experiencing Alexander hands on work, learning about some relevant anatomy, observing habitual responses in self and others, applying the approach of the technique to specific situations. Class format and activities

Entry requirements

Conversational English, No previous experience of the Alexander Technique is needed.
Average mobility (walking and sitting).

What you need to know before you enrol

There will be some lying down on the floor.

What you will need for your class

Loose clothing and flat shoes are preferable.

As learning the technique requires hands on work a course of individual lessons is the best way to learn how to apply the Alexander technique consistently in every day life. There will be information available about finding an Alexander teacher and a book list available, including details of FM Alexander’s 4 books.
