I first became interested in Alexander Technique when I developed RSI problems while studying the flute at music college. I was immediately intrigued by the fact that I felt so much better after lessons, more energized, poised, confident and relaxed.
With a son just a few months old, my Alexander sessions helped me deal with the tiredness and stress I was feeling. How could an Alexander session do all this? And even better, I was learning how to do this for myself. My RSI steadily improved as I learned a more integrated way to use my mind and body.
I later trained for three years full time as an Alexander teacher, where the training includes 16 hrs per week of hands on practice. Yoga is used as a means of understanding functional anatomy and it was at this time that I also fell in love with Yoga and Ayurveda. I qualified in Alexander Technique in 1995. I prefer not to specialise in any particular area making the work more challenging and creative.
