My practice is in Rye and the surrounding areas. I worked in the health and fitness for 15 years in London and then taught Pilates when I moved to East Sussex. I noticed that whatever activities people chose to do, in order to improve their health, they always bought old habits of tension to those activities. I have learnt through the study of The Alexander Technique that in order to change the way your body works for you, you have to learn how to undo unhelpful tension patterns and learn how to make better choices. Then you have a chance to move with ease, freedom and skill, and apply it to whatever you do. Having trained as a dancer, I had many unhelpful holding patterns that were not allowing me to balance and coordinate my movement with a natural ease and coordination. My muscles were almost fighting each other. This was beginning to lead to pain and overuse at many of my joints. It has been an amazing and surprising journey training in The Alexander Technique.
As a teacher I am very good at communicating, my pupils lead their own learning with my encouraging and expert guidance. I feel I have achieved something when my pupils no longer need me. Come and have a taster session. What can you lose.
