Mr Paul Baxter
After five years of weekly Alexander lessons, I trained as an Alexander Technique teacher at Fellside Alexander School in Kendal, Cumbria, qualifying in 2004. I then set up a teaching practice in Prague, Czech Republic, working mainly with musicians and dancers, in groups and individually. I also taught clients with needs in areas such as education, health, back pain and posture, including a team of telesales operatives in a call centre.
In 2009 I returned to the UK, teaching in Coventry, whilst expanding and updating my professional skills, attending CPD workshops with senior teachers including Miranda Tufnell, Jean Clark, Michael Hardwicke, Shaike Hermelin, Ted McNamara, Giora Pinkas, Yehuda Kuperman, Misha Magidov, Malcolm Balk, Wolfgang Weiser and Jeremy Chance.
Since 2013 my interests have broadened considerably and I've attended conferences, workshops and classes exploring other somatic practices such as the Feldenkrais Method, non-stylised dance and environmental movement (Helen Poynor), ecological movement (Sandra Reeve) and most recently Amerta Movement with Suprapto Suryodarmo.
My understanding and experience of these approaches informs and supports my Alexander Technique work, which I continue to share and develop in a creative and meaningful way.
I am currently studying for an MA in Creative Writing at Lancaster University.
