Wednesdays we'll meet in the lovely spacious Beacon Methodist Church in S11 for an hour's directed activities 1.00-2.30 pm and half an hour for a cup of tea and light refreshments (see website for specific dates). You'll learn (or be reminded) of some simple anatomy and how this relates to easier movement in yourself.
We play a game, are directed in a daily activity like drinking tea, writing or walking to notice movement habits and how our thoughts affect this and can enhance our wellbeing. As you get to know yourselves better you'll see what extra things you are adding to simple movements, and how they may be getting in the way of your natural movement patterns.
We'll look at simply physics and practice agreeing with these principles rather than fighting nature! Most importantly, you'll have some immediate take-away thoughts and tools to help you transform unhelpful movement patterns, into freer, easier and more pleasurable movement.
Most sessions include some constructive rest, as many people are chronically over tired and don't know how to relax. I'll guide you, your job is to stay awake and think with me.
What people say about Lucy's group classes:"I had such a bad morning with pain in my back, I was wondering why I came - but now I feel so much better. I can stand up straighter, reach higher, stand for longer and the pain is so much better. I wish you could follow me around every day!" Pat, Sheffield
"The best bit for me was lying down. I didn't realise how tense I was until you talked us through the body scan and to let gravity do its thing - I could feel the tension melt away. When you adjusted my head, it unkinked something in my lower back!" Mum of 3 Jenny, Sheffield
