Introduction to the Alexander Technique

A 2-hour ‘taster’ workshop for adults
Onetime session

This workshop will:

  • Introduce you to the principles of the Alexander Technique
  • Provide practical tips to enable you to take care of your posture, whether sitting, standing or in activity
  • Begin to raise your body awareness in order to avoid or alleviate all-too-common problems such as back, neck and shoulder pain
  • Point the way to feeling calmer and more relaxed, and able to deal more confidently with stressful situations

It is designed to be a lively, interactive and enjoyable learning experience.

I was looking for some way to help manage my lower back problems without relying on pain relief medication. I have found my one-to-one AT sessions extremely helpful and have learnt to identify and avoid postures and actions that contribute to back pain. I now know how to relax and properly rest my back and neck. In my experience, AT is a whole body technique which can help one to be more self-aware and to understand how to move with less tension and consequently, with less effort. Hurray for AT!
